What is RedCapes?

RedCapes is not just an organization, it is a culture. With the ever-lasting mission to alleviate food insecurity in struggling communities, we engage students and organizations to participate in philanthropic events and act as a force multiplier to existing efforts. RedCapes provides a network to individuals interested in giving back with ease of access to events and volunteering, reinforcing philanthropy as a core pillar of each community.

Established as a 501(c)(3) public charity in 2025, RedCapes is currently expanding the fight against food insecurity. We currently operate in Bloomington, IN with our first chapter at Indiana University. In the near term, we plan to begin new chapters across Indiana, the Midwest, and East Coast by partnering with college campuses, K12 schools, and related non-profits.

RedCapes follows all appropriate ServSafe guidelines and ensures appropriate food handling procedures in all events, compliant with partnering universities and food pantries. Please contact us with any inquiries about specific food handling and volunteering procedures.

How Does RedCapes Help?

RedCapes plans its own initiatives and brings attention to other similar ongoing philanthropic efforts among other charities and organizations. We work with established non-profits, student organizations, and foundations to understand the needs of each community we work with and develop exciting ways to inspire engagement in volunteer work. We plan initiatives for students and student organizations on college campuses, providing a network of volunteering opportunities.

RedCapes works primarily with The Salvation Army but is open to partnering with any food bank or similar charity in good standing. Please visit our contact information page for more information.
